POSITION SUMMARY

The Controls Engineer designs, develops and maintains manufacturing automation and control systems used in slurry manufacturing and chemical delivery systems. Interacts with engineering and production personnel to identify and analyze continuous improvement through system modifications and upgrades.   Leads or manages projects and implements upgrades for control system changes using a change control procedure process.  Programs and maintain Mitsubishi Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) for automated systems in a manufacturing environment.  Provide sustaining and troubleshooting support for existing control systems.  Develops, reviews, and/or executes automation qualification and validation processes.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Design control schemes for slurry manufacturing and chemical delivery systems.
  • Set up and maintain a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) that tracks the manufacturing process steps from raw material usage to packaging and labeling of finished goods.
  • Lead or assist with engineering projects.
  • Program and maintain PLCs and HMI for automated systems in a manufacturing environment.  Must be proficient in Ladder Logic programming & networking of PLC systems
  • Provide sustaining and troubleshooting support of existing control systems for Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Work with plant-wide SCADA, MES and HMI systems.
  • Provide CAD drawings, documentation and initial work instructions for all completed work..

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education

A Bachelor's Degree, Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or Computer Science).

Experience

3 to 5 years experience preferably in manufacturing.

Computer Skills

High level of computer skills using coding & networking of industrial automation systems and Microsoft Office.  Experience with VBA and SQL preferred.

Other Requirements

Previous experience with Mitsubishi PLC Controls, GE iFix & plant applications preferred.
